Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
